How Audio Decision billing works
You pay for input tokens at $0.47 per 1M. Answers are free. Rejected 4xx calls are not billed. Hume also offers an Estimate endpoint that is not billed — this website does not call it. Source: official billing.
What adds tokens
Clip duration dominates. Each decision question and extra context adds more. Sending many windows means many billable shapes of the same conversation.
Overlap and live windows
Official examples show ~20 overlapping 6s windows per minute (~10,600 tokens/min) and ~12×5s live clips per minute (~6,400 tokens/min). More windows → more tokens even when wall-clock audio length is unchanged.
Duration limits
Estimate and decision calls accept 5,000–300,000 ms (5 seconds–5 minutes) per the billing docs.
Estimate endpoint vs this site
Hume’s input_tokens Estimate API returns estimated_input_tokens for your exact payload. We mirror public examples with a transparent formula so you can plan without API keys. For production metering, use Hume’s endpoint.
Trial
When your org is granted access, Hume documents a 1M input token trial. The calculator’s “trial runs left” divides 1,000,000 by the approximate tokens per run.
